Welcome to the 2011 Lakeside After-School Science Club (LASSC)!
If you would like information about this year's 2011 sessions, please contact Dr. Krystyna R. Isaacs
Cost will be $75 for 5 sessions (including the sleep over at the museum).
GOOD NEWS!
We will have TWO sections this year...a wonderful parent (maybe two!) has stepped forward to lead the second section...we'll announce the plans soon when we figure out which day (either a Tuesday or Thursday probably) but basically everyone on the waiting list should be able to get a spot this year, if they can attend a Tues/Thursday session. I know some cannot, so if you are signed up for Weds, and are flexible, please consider whether you can switch to a Tuesday/Thursday section (we'll put out a call for volunteers for switching days in a few weeks). Whew! I'm so glad, cause we had about 15 people on the 'waiting list'.
I'm camping this weekend (weather permitting), but I hope to get the sections sorted out by the first of Nov.
Thanks everyone for all your patience, and so sorry about the mosquito ridden lines last night!

Every parent needs to sign up for at least one of the session dates (not including the sleep over) listed above, or volunteer to do one of the 'behind the scenes' tasks, such as:
-Picking up and distributing Tshirts (corner of Beltline and I-35) at a store we use
-Making name tags (for 4 sessions)
-Organizing the parent volunteer schedule and sending reminders before each session.
-Sleepover coordinator: collecting $ and reservations for siblings and adults for the sleepover (April 1, 2011)
-Pizza party coordinator: ordering and bringing pizzas and paper plates and napkins to the school on the last session (delivery around 4PM)
-Check on the Volunteer Background Checks for each parent volunteer
Help at the sessions: We need at least 5 adult volunteers/session--more would be better!
We will have 5-6 different 'stations' and it will be important to have one parent at each station to help the students with doing the experiment and then preparing to discuss it--please plan to come at 2:50P so I can go over the station activity. (Please plan to leave siblings at home on these days.)
Note: All volunteers need to have background checks. (if you have one on file for this year at Lakeside, you do not need to submit another one--just let the volunteer in charge of this activity know that your background check is on file).
